5+1 Tournament on Party – 5th place and ITH IRC chat

I played a 5+1 tournament on Party today and I placed in 5th place for 176.25$.
w00t!

I had a blast. I was on the ITH IRC channel and a few fellow ITHer sweated me. Thanks guys!

I think I played pretty well. I was aggressive in the right places and I stole my fare share of blinds.

I am not sure about the hand that got me knocked out so I submitted it on the ITH Forums for discussion.

Chatting with ITHers on IRC last night

I read some threads on the ITH Forums that where talking about ITHers joining an IRC channel and talking about their tourney progress.

I decided to try it out last night and I have to say, it was pretty cool. I will definitely go back on the channel. I can imagine the value of it when you get into the late stage of a big tourney and need some advice on stuff you are not familiar with.

For my part it would probably be deal making. I never was deep enough in a tourney to need that skill, but from a couple of thread I read at ITH I can understand why it can be a valuable skill to have.

I finished first once in a freeroll tourney with 2 499 bandits, and I won a whooping 35$ so there was no need to do some deal making at the final table. ;)

As far as poker goes, I only played a SNG and a couple of low buy-in tourneys last night. I did not cash in any of them, but I was not playing my best. I just wanted to play and have some fun with no pressure to make money.

I played poker for free yesterday.

I think that this downswing has affected me a lot more than I care to admit.

I decided to ditch the NL 6 max and opted to play some limit 3/6, so I fired up Empire Poker and looked in the 3/6 section. There was 1 table that was full-ring and the rest were 6 max.

I will play the best poker of my life

Last night I decided to play some poker! Nothing special, I do this every night, but this time, I decided I would play a lot of hours so I would get some good rakeback $$$ from the session.

I started at about 6pm and finished at 1:30 am. So I played about 7 hours if you include some pipi pause and what not. I played 3 tables of NL 6 max 200$ buy-in on Empire Poker.

I was in the right mind frame. I told myself that I would play the best poker of my life. I always repeat this in my head before I start playing. Mental conditioning you see

End of December and 4k milestone

Well, like November, December was once again a good month. I reached the 4k milestone at the end of the month. I am really happy and proud about that accomplishment.

One of the major things that happened in December is that I decided to switch my game. I am now almost exclusively playing NL 6max. I have graduated to the 200$ buy-in.

I win at limit poker but I win a lot more at NL 6 max. I am not sure why, since I have studied limit poker a lot more than NL, but it seems that NL comes to me more naturally
