The blog has been down for a few days… Why? GoDaddy locked the MySQL database.

Here is what I got from GoDaddy:

Dear Sir/Madam,

We have determined that your database, xxxxxxx, for warroompoker.com is causing
CPU over-utilization. This can be caused by reasons including, but not
limited to non-optimized scripts, high traffic, form spamming, etc.
The database has been suspended until you can identify the issue causing the
overutilization. Once identified and resolved, please reply with a
short summary of what has been done so we can submit a reinstatement
request. If the issue is not able to be resolved, you may need to move
to a more robust hardware solution for your site such as a Dedicated
Server.

The issue appears to be occurring with queries run from your site to
the wp_comments table. You may want to research online issues with
wp_comments table in the wordpress database.

Thanks,

Hmmmmm… Looks like WarRoomPoker.com is being spammed heavily. :-)) I already knew that! Askimet has caught something like 55k spam comments. I did not think it would affect the server tough… :-|

I made a simple test: I receive via email a backup of the site on a daily basis. The size of the file is 7.5mb. It’s basically a text file, so I edited the text file and removed all the comments from it and saved the file. The file shrunk to a a mere 453k… 7mb of spam… :-\

I never realized I received so much spam…

So in order to comply with GoDaddy and to prevent the spammers to keep spamming the site, I decided to take the drastic route: No more comments.

I found this link: Combating Comment Spam FAQ very helpful. I opted for this solution:

Delete wp-comments-post.php
The ultimate end-all solution to your comment spam troubles. This will effectively disable comments and is good for stopping comment spam floods. No one will be able to comment on your WordPress site.

Conclusion, no one can make comments on the site anymore. Not that there was a lot, but I think it’s sad I have to resort to this because of some f..ing spammers.

Sorry folks.

Based on a suggestion from my good buddy SittingDuck from ITH, I modified the Ten card.

If you want to use them, just copy all the .png files in FullTiltPoker_waffle_cards_T.zip to \Program Files\Full Tilt Poker\Graphics\Table\Elements and voila.

Here is what the images look like:

Im not a virgin anymore!

Well guys, I did it for the first time tonight. I played live poker. :D

The smiley is probably not warranted since I basically lost a buy-in. But still it was fun.

I am on a business trip this week and there is a casino adjacent to the hotel where I am staying. So a bunch of people decided to go to the casino and I joined them. I am the only one playing poker so I left them all do there stuff and I went to see the poker room manager (or whatever his name is) and I asked him what they spread. He told me NL 1/2 with min buy-in 40$ and max 200$.

Pffft That’s my game. So I decided to sit down with max buy-in. I am so nervous my hands are shaking. I did a couple of stupid things like, I post blinds out of turn, I post the wrong blind, I fold out of turn, I check when there is a bet  and probably some others that I don’t remember. In online poker the software takes care of all of that stuff for you… ;)

I decide to play tight because I am so nervous that I don’t want to make a mistake. Playing tight is not that bad, it was a 9 handed table, but fuck did I play weak. And that IS bad!

The first big pot I was involved was against a guy I thought was on tilt because he had lost 2 big pots in a row. I saw him call with on a flop of against another tight player.

Ok, so for the first big hand I was involved in: I am 4th to speak, I have . EP calls, EP+1 calls, fold, I raise to 10. Everyone folds except BB who raises to 30. Fold, Fold, I just call – We’re heads up. There is about 60$ in the pot (don’t remember exactly because of the rake).

Flop (60$):

BB bets 30$. I call.

Turn (120$)

BB checks, I check

River

BB checks, and I bet 50$ for value.

He thinks for a while and calls with guess what? Fucking !!

I thought these things only happened on the internet Live poker is so rigged! :-))

I lost the rest when I badly played where I just called a 10$ raise preflop. There was an ace on the flop, we were four players to see the flop and there was a 10$ bet from EP, I went all-in and got called by a player holding 2 pairs and another one with a flush draw. I lost to the flush draw :(

I rebought for 60$ (yeah you read that right, 60$ :-$, only thing I had left in my pockets – so weak…) but never caught any cards. I was down to 50$ when a guy sat down right to my left with what looked like 1000$.

I stared at his stack and wondered when the dealer would tell him max was 200$, he never did and the player was allowed to play with his big stack. When I saw that, with the stack I had, I knew it was pretty much all-in or fold.

Thats not my game and I was out of my comfort zone, so I decided to quit when the blinds reached me.

There was another incident at the table, and I swear its true. Dealer deals me the first card face up. Its an ace. She excuses herself and deals another card. When I check my cards, the card on the top (the one that replaces the ace) is a seven. The other card, is a fucking ace!!!! :-((

But thats not all, and I swear this is true, the flop came with an ace and the turn came with the case ace. How bad can that be

Full Tilt Poker waffle cards – Take 2 (Poker Mod)

I wanted to play on Full Tilt Poker today and I noticed that they now offer resizable tables.

Cool!

But the waffle cards that I had created do not work anymore :(. I have to play with waffle cards! :D

The new Full Tilt Poker software is using different card size depending on the size of the table. There are 6 card images (card0.png…card6.png). So I had to create 6 new images with the waffle cards in order to make it work with the new Full Tilt Poker software. So I went back to my trusty Photoshop and created the new images.

If you want to use them, just copy all the .png files in FullTiltPoker_waffle_cards.zip to \Program Files\Full Tilt Poker\Graphics\Table\Elements and voil.

Here is what the images look like:
