The casual player
I made an error today and I am sick of it, I have to write it down so I stop doing it.
Don’t worry it’s not tilt. ![]()
The error I made was that I talked too much. Here is what happened.

Villain is a 18|16|1.4 over 153 hands. His 3Bet% is 9.8 (but it was higher when the hand played) and his flop cbet is 75%. I think I played the hand fine. Folding to a c-bet against an aggressive 3-better when I have position, a pair and only one over card showing is weak. Raising is an option, but in this case I decided to just call and decide what I will do on the turn.
He checks the turn and I opt to check behind. Since is AF is low, I expect him to check a good portion of his range. If he bets I think I have to fold. I opt to check to keep the pot small. That
is a blank and if I was ahead on the flop, I am still ahead on the turn.
The river is the bingo card. I make two pairs. When he checks, I know he wasn’t slow playing a big hand. It’s just a matter of betting an amount he will call. I bet just a little over 1/2 pot and he almost snap called with KQ.
Then he berates me for my play and that is where I make my error. I tell him why I called based on his stats. A player I have 2.4k hands and whom I respect his shortstack game asks me what post flop aggression means and I explain it to him. Then someone else asks me how I know all this and I tell him I use Holdem Manager.
The guy who asked the question (a 32|17|0.6) is the kind of player you want at your table. He says that what I am doing is illegal and he calls the moderator… I tell him that it is legal and that I am ok with the mod coming to chat with us… Obviously the mod blurts out a few sentences about we have to be polite and that while PokerStars does not have any way of knowing what stat gathering program is used, we cannot use those stats to insult other players and blah blah blah.
The player who asked the question says he will email support, I tell him to go look HERE
where it is clearly stated that Holdem Manager is an approved application. And then the obvious happens, he leaves and another fish errr… I mean recreational player leaves. The other good player tells me that I am an idiot and I reply : “I have to agree with you.” he leaves and I leave.
